GOOD PERFORMANCE OF SAIS HYBRIDS AT “ FIHA FIELD DAY” IN COMAYAGUA – HONDURAS

We recently visited PULMIC AGRO, our distributor since 2018 for SAIS and MTS brands in Honduras.

Engineer Enrique Cano, co – owner together with his family, reports :

“ Sais seeds are sought after in the Honduran market for their quality. The Record short day red onion adapts well to local growing conditions and stands out for its earliness and uniformity, gaining market share from season to season.

The coriander, the giant radish, the rubrovitamin carrot are appreciated by farmers for their production yields.

We now have an ongoing testing program of Sais hybrids of indeterminate Saladette tomato and Lamuyo and Blocky peppers.”

Together with Eng. Cano we attended on 3 March 2023 the “Field Day” organized by FIHA( Fundacion Hondureña Investigación Agricola ) in Comayagua – Honduras .

Over 500 participants including producers and distributors from different regions of Honduras and neighbouring countries took part at the event, consisting of a workshop, an exhibition area with open-air stands and field visits for comparing varieties in groups.

Nearly 100 varieties of onion, watermelon, cucumber, sweet pepper and jalapeño, saladette tomato were tested with 2-3 repetitions each in open field and under the net.

The Sais varieties in test (Pomodoro Myrabile F1, Peperone Alceo F1, Mannal F1 and Cipolla Record) performed well in terms of healthiness and yield within their ranges and segments compared to the witness varieties, creating the conditions for their promotion and commercial introduction ” .
