ABOUT US: SOWING EXCELLENCE – AN INTERVIEW WITH ENG. ALDO GONZALES, TECNIAGRO SRL BOLIVIA
INTERVIEWER :Eng. Gonzales, you have been a key figure in Bolivian agriculture for years. How would you describe your journey with Sais seeds brand over the last decade?
ALDO GONZALES : It has been a journey of trust and good results. I began importing Sais seeds about 10 years ago and I can say that they truly meet the deepest needs of our Bolivian growers.
INTERVIEWER : Your distribution network is quite extensive. How do you reach the farmers who need these seeds most?
ALDO GONZALES : We have built a arrong presence integrating our seed distribution alongside agricultural chemicals through our network of retail dealers.
Bolivia presents a very diverse horticultural landscape thanks to its complex orography, which allows for the cultivation of different crops based on altitude and climate. The main production areas can be divided into three macro-regions:
- The Inter-Andean Valleys (Cochabamba, Chuquisaca, and Tarija)
2 . The Santa Cruz region: the agro-industrial engine of the nation
- The Altiplano (La Paz, Oruro, and Potosí) In these area, located between 3500 and 4000 meters on sea level , production is conditioned by low temperatures and frosts, but remains vital for domestic consumption.
INTERVIEWER : Which Sais varieties stand out?
ALDO GONZALES : Varieties like Beet Detroit, Cabbage Copenhagen market, Celery Tall Utah, Parsley Italian Giant , Radish Siculo and Turnip white early purple top have become references for Bolivian producers.
These seeds stand out for their germination energy, varietal consistency and the absence of off-types. This reliability is what guarantees a real income for both our retailers and the farmers. When a farmer sows Sais seeds, he knows he is securing his livelihood.
INTERVIEWER: Beyond the seeds themselves, what makes the partnership with Sais work for Tecniagro?
Aldo Gonzales: The human element. We deeply appreciate the genuine customer care and the efficiency of the service Sais provides.
INTERVIEWER : Looking at the horizon, what excites you most about the future?
ALDO GONZALES : Sais breeding activity and innovation.
I am confident about our next steps. I believe the new Sais hybrids—specifically the Pink Onion, Broccoli and the Indeterminate Saladette Tomato—will offer massive growth opportunities.
