HARVEST TIMES
We have reached the long-awaited moment of seed harvesting!
Following a growing season of variable duration, threshing operations for various species are concentrated primarily in the summer months, giving rise to a long chain of activities.
Our technicians coordinate the entire process, from field preparation to harvest. They work with farmers and harvester operators to adjust treshing machines, and with trucks to ensure the timely transport of potentially perishable seeds (depending on the humidity and type of harvest).
Direct collaboration with our warehouse, which receives the seeds is fundamental. Our warehouse operators are in charge for receiving and properly storing vegetables arriving from farms across all the region of Italy.
The spring-summer season of 2026 was characterized in Italy by a wave of intense and prolonged heat, as was the case across Europe.
Many crops still in bloom have suffered from the effects of these prolonged high temperatures through a reduction in yield potential—an unfortunately inevitable outcome, given by the limited window of time favorable for pollinators and pollen vitality.
Also due to extreme temperatures, there was no shortage of extreme weather events; while affecting limited areas but with significant damage to our sector.
But despite the difficulties… it is great to see trucks full of big bags and warehouses filled once again.
The 2026 season isn’t exceeding expectations, it ranks as an average year—with some crops faring better than others—yielding results that are significantly better than those of previous years.
Constant technical support, combined with favorable conditions, has resulted in a successful season in terms of plant health.
This is not only a benefit for the current year’s production but also a promising start for the coming season.
We are already preparing for the 2027 plantings and beginning with low disease pressure and clean soil gives us an advantage over previous years.
