PITAGOTA TOMATO ADAPTS WELL TO AZERBAIJANI GROWING AND MARKETING CONDITIONS

This is the assessment of Mr. Shahing Abbasov from GREEN LINE, SAIS consultant in charge of the promotion and registration of SAIS varieties in the Azerbaijani National Variety Register.

“ We have successfully carried out trials of SAIS varieties with Azerbaijani stakeholders and growers for several years. In 2025, we finally achieved the registration of six SAIS varieties (four indoor tomatoes, one eggplant, and one watermelon), and we are now ready to begin their distribution.

The trials confirmed the adaptability of SAIS varieties to local growing and marketing conditions. Pitagora tomato, in particular, distinguished itself in the Shamkir area for its agronomic and commercial performances .

The final export markets, such as Russia, prefer tomatoes with a heart-shaped fruit and a prominent pointed end. Pitagora, when properly managed with natural hormone treatments, proves to be highly suitable for this specific market requirement.”
