LAST EVENTS – SAIS MISSION TO IRAQI KURDISTAN: EXPLORING PARTNERSHIPS

SAIS , as a member of CERMAC (Consortium for the Internationalization of Companies having Innovation in Agriculture ), recently participated in a fact-finding mission to Erbil , Iraqi Kurdistan.

The delegation’s visit was supported by the Italian Consulate in Erbil, and the MERG Foundation.

The delegation had the privilege of being received by the Italian Consul, by the Minister of Agriculture and Water Resources of the Kurdistan Regional Government – Iraq, and by some regional agricultural authorities.

Comprehensive information regarding the socio-political and economic aspects was provided to the delegation.

The primary objective of the mission was to gain knowledge and evaluate potential collaboration opportunities for CERMAC member companies. Specifically, SAIS  held several B2B meetings with local seed importers and distributors and engaged in discussions aimed at assessing Hi-Tech horticulture projects.

Traditional farmers of the region as well as Vertical farmers have been visited .

A clear willingness to increase horticultural production in Iraqi Kurdistan through innovative techniques and to keep occupied the population of rural areas, overall was observed, along with a strong and positive inclination towards Italian partners .
